Welcome! Read the five short entries below to get an introduction to this site and the handicap system. If you know about the Handicap system in ball golf, you are mostly good to go already!

Your handicap, combined with the difficulty of the course that you are playing, results in an expected amount of throws for you. I.e, you are getting a personal "Handicap Course Par" on the course that depends on your skill-level.

ET - Expected Throws of the player including their handicap
NT - Numer of Throws on this thole
HCP - How you are playing compared to your expected "Handicap Course Par" so far
Par - How you are playing compared to the course par so far

Jane is expected to get a par on hole 10.
After 9 holes she is even on her Handicap Course Par, and 1 under the course par.

John is expected to get a bogey on hole 10.
After 9 holes he is playing 1 under his Handicap Course Par, and 3 over the course par.

Jane is in the lead in "Scratch" or "Par"-play, but John is in the lead in "Handicap"-play.

Total - Summary of the whole round
F9 - Summary of the Front 9
B9 - Summary of the Back 9
Throws - Number of throws
Par - How you played compared to the course par
HCP - How you played compared to your Handicap Course Par
HCP Score - The handicap you would have had if you played all rounds like this

John made 65 throws during the round. This was 7 throws above the course par, but 2 strokes better than his Handicap Course Par. This round John played like he had a Handicap of 6.2.
You can scroll to the right to see the individual results on each hole.

• You can compete against friends/family/others that are on a different skill level compared to you.
• You can compete against yourself and see your progress as your handicap becomes better.
• You get an expected score the first time you play course.
• And much more!

You will see "N/A" in a couple of places after you have created your account. This simply means that you haven't registered enough rounds yet. After your first 3 completed rounds "N/A" will go away for some much more interesting information. So keep playing!

• Handicap - A measurement of your current skill level.
• Handicap Score - The handicap you would have if you played all rounds like that round.
• Handicap Course Par - The expected number of throws on a course for a player when their handicap is taken into account
• Course Par - The normal par of the course.
• Slope - A measurment of a course's difficulty.
• Index - How challenging a hole is on a course compared to the other holes. Index 1 is the thoughest.

Some examples below:

• Course Par: 54, Handicap Course Par: 56. You are expected to get two bogeys to play on your Handicap Course Par.
• Course Par: 54, Handicap Course Par: 50. You are expected to get four birdies to play on your Handicap Course Par.
• Course Par: 54, Handicap Course Par: 75. You can get three double-bogeys and 15 bogeys to play on your Handicap Course Par.

When you are entering the score during the round you will see exactly which holes you are expected to get birdies/pars/bogeys/double-bogeys/etc on depending on your handicap ("ET" on the scorecard). This means that you can keep track on how you are playing compared to your Handicap Par during the round, and not just after having completed it!

The Handicap system is also designed to protect players from catastrophic holes. This means that if the worst score you can ever get on a hole is a double bogey (compared to your expected throws on the hole). Any hole were you score something worse will be counted as double bogey (once again, compared to your expected throws on the hole). This is presented as points on your Round Summary scorecard, and those points can never go below 0 for a hole.
Example: Your number of expected throws on a par 3 is 4 throws. You get 7 throws. That 7 is counted as a 6 thanks to the triple bogey protection.

When a course is added it gets a "Slope score" assigned. This score takes a lot of factors into it.

Whether you yourself are stronger on a specific type of course or not will not be taken into account, you can instead see this system as a way to help you identify areas in your game where you can improve!

Every round you play will get assigned a Handicap. Your Handicap is then calculated depending on how many rounds you've played according to the list below:

• 3 to 5 rounds - The average of your best 3 rounds
• 6 to 8 rounds - The average of your best 4 rounds
• 9 to 11 rounds - The average of your best 5 rounds
• 12 to 14 rounds - The average of your best 6 rounds
• 15 to 17 rounds - The average of your best 7 rounds
• 18 to 20 rounds - The average of your best 8 rounds
• 21+ rounds - The average of your best 8 rounds of your last 20 rounds.

I'm Niklas and I live in Uppsala, Sweden. I've been playing discgolf for about 4-5 years now.

I think discgolf is one of the (if not the) best sports out there for everyone. And the main reason for me starting this project is that I truly do believe that it can help to grow the sport. Using the Handicap system encourages beginners to play against a more reasonable par than the course par, which can be a really big help to get them to enjoy the game in the beginning. The fast progression in the beginning that we all know and love will also be plain as day to see!

If you aren't a beginner the handicap system is still an excellent way to keep track of your own progression and it will open up a new way to compete with your friends who may not be on the same skill level as yourself!
